Tuesday and Thursday Shoppers – King’s Sutton-Banbury-King’s Sutton

King’s Sutton Parish Council has teamed up with community interest company ABILITY (Northants) to run a minibus service for local residents wishing to visit Banbury. The service runs every Tuesday and Thursday morning and is free for concessionary bus pass holders subject to the following conditions:

  • Those wishing to use the service must be registered with ABILITY (Northants). (See below for details of how to register free of charge.)
  • To reserve their seat on the minibus, passengers must book each journey at the latest by 14:00 on the day before travel. (See below for details of how to book.) NB: A £3.50 charge is applicable if a booking is cancelled after 14:00 the day before travel. 
  • Bus passes must be shown to the driver at the time of travel.
  • Those without a bus pass can still use the service but must pay a small fare for each trip.

Dependant on the number of pick-ups, timings can vary by up to 15 minutes, so all times are approximate

To maintain social distancing during the Coronavirus crisis, Ability is operating a second service if there is sufficient demand that runs approximately one hour after the first service.

This is a public bus service for all residents of King’s Sutton operated by ABILITY Community Transport, which is run by volunteers as a not for profit social enterprise. Please help ABILITY to sustain the service by kindly leaving a donation in the bucket on the bus.

Hard copies of the registration form are available from the Parish Clerk’s Office on the first floor of the Millennium Memorial Hall and from the Hall Coffee Shop held on Monday and Friday mornings. Alternatively, a PDF of the form can be downloaded from here

NB: Registration is free of charge for people who just wish to use the King’s Sutton-Banbury Minibus service on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Optional “Silver” and “Gold” PLUS Bus Services are available for those requiring additonal features. (See below for details.)

PLUS Bus Services

Silver Registration offers service users the opportunity to book trips further in advance and ensures a seat on the bus. The annual costs are:

  • £24.00 per year for one person
  • £36.00 per year for two people living at the same address

Gold Registration is aimed at service users with mobility or disability issues who need to be picked up from home or from a location close to home and given assistance on and off the bus. Gold registrants also have the opportunity to book trips further in advance and ensure a seat on the bus. The annual cost for one person is £36.00 per year.
